Technical
InsulationWe installed 1″ ISO (polyisocyanurate) insulation for its thermal performance. ISO has an R-value of 5.6 to 6 per inch. ISO provides excellent insulation and creates a smooth surface for the PVC membrane.PVCWe used 60 mil PVC (Polyvinyl Chloride) for its durability. PVC roofing:
- Chemical resistant
- Fire resistant
- Temperature resistant
- Reflective
- Strong seams
- Flexible
- Easy to install
60 mil is puncture and weather resistant for long life.
Installation
Our team followed a detailed process:
- Roof Preparation: We stripped one layer of existing rubber and inspected the roof deck for damage.
- Insulation Laying: 1″ ISO boards were fastened to the roof deck with no gaps.
- PVC Membrane: We used mechanical fastening and heat welding to install 60 mil PVC membrane.
- Flashing and Details: We paid extra attention to roof penetrations, edges and corners. We used PVC to flash around pipe cones, drip edges and skylights.
- Quality Control: We did seam probing and visual inspections.
Challenges and Solutions
One of the challenges of this project was the lack of interior access for roof servicing since there was no hatch. We used an external ladder for safe and efficient access to the roof. This shows we can work with any site condition and remain safe and productive.
Project Management
Completed in 4 days. We used a dumpster for clean up so we didn’t disrupt the surrounding area.
